The  1" entries for chickadees are also suitable for wrens.

One day in North Carolina, while working to repair some fencing, David noticed a hollowed stake with a family of chickadees nesting inside.  This led to making a birdhouse from a solid piece of wood.  It took much trial and error to produce boxes in this manner. 

Solid pieces of wood do better at mimicking a hollow cavity in a tree which is what all birdhouses are attempting to do.

The custom chickadee boxes evolved from watching chickadees, bluebirds and others perch on the tip of their nesting boxes singing and claiming their territory, which led to the custom chickadee spires. The spires not only look fantastic, but they serve a purpose.  For photographers, you can get some great photos as well.

The Chickadee line has evolved more than any of the Wildcat nesting boxes because throughout the United States, everyone has either chickadees or wrens.
